The project
The project is a submission for Pininfarina 90 + 1 design competition. The design focuses on creating smart individual mobility. A new way to move around the city that is easier and more efficient for the individual. Re-conceptualize the car for individual transport. The design is a 3-way collaboration between me, focused on the system and environmental visuals, Maxence a mobility designer and Guillaume an interaction designer.
The grand paris express
The overhaul of the Grand Paris Metropolis entails a restructuring and expansion of public transport.
International hubs will be added to strategic stations serving the development of local authorities in the metropolis.
Transit oriented development
A TOD is a type of urban development that maximizes the amount of residential, business and leisure space within walking distance of public transport. It promotes a symbiotic relationship between dense, compact urban form and public transport use.
TOD in Saint Denis
Most users of the rail transport system work in one of the TOD areas of 10 minutes walk around stations, but contrarily, many users live outside of the TOD areas using some egress mode to access the stations.
Gaps in tod
The highlited area is the zone beyond the 10 minute walk area around the TOD. These areas remain in a void zone which are too long for a walk or too short for a car.
The Design
The design showcases a module that has a narrow footprint to reduce its presence on the street, has a flexibility factor to adapt to different users and a system to adapt to the changing nature of a city.
The module can work in tandem with the footpath to allow easy access to the users and the intelligent enough to monitor the changing populous density of a place and redirect the modules to their designated areas
